Yoga has always been vegetarian, and later in his life Swami Satchidananda told us that dairy was not necessary for health and it was time to evolve past it. Most people who come to an asana class are unaware of this backstory, or even of ahimsa as yoga's first moral precept.
This presentation is about how we can bring this aspect of yoga tradition into our classes and conversations without arousing discomfort or anger. Topics covered in this workshop:

Listed by VegNews among the “Top 10 Living Vegetarian Authors” and featured twice on Oprah, Victoria Moran has written thirteen books including Main Street Vegan, the international bestseller Creating a Charmed Life, and coming in January, Age Like a Yogi: A Heavenly Path to a Dazzling Third Act.
She discovered yoga as a teen, trained with Integral Yoga in Kansas City in her 20s, and did yoga teacher training during the pandemic at age 70. Victoria has hosted the Main Street Vegan Podcast and directed Main Street Vegan Academy, training vegan lifestyle coaches and educators, since 2012.
Victoria produced the 2019 documentary, A Prayer for Compassion, about spirituality and food choices, and she was the 2024 inductee into the North American Vegetarian Society's Vegan Hall of Fame.
